Shadrix Trio song grabs national attention in Christian music

It’s not often that opening a new email message sparks a feeling of excitement.

That’s what happened to Barry Shadrix, who inadvertently learned that The Shadrix Trio’s single, “Unless We Go,” from the group’s latest album, “Let the Worshippers Agree,” will be No. 60 on the national Christian music charts for June.

“I was really excited,” Shadrix said. “I didn’t’ know anything about it. I got an email from the Singing News Magazine and they had told me they were missing the songwriter information and they had to email, ‘Can you please send me the songwriter information for this song so we can publish it on the charts?’ I said, ‘Are you serious?’... I was shocked.”

The group, which includes Dedra Henry and Angela McCaslin, has recently gotten phone calls from several different states from music lovers who want to order the CD.

“We’re been pretty excited about that,” Shadrix said.

For the past two months, the single has also been No. 41 on the music charts for Christian Voice Magazine.

“We had a song on the charts one time before, but it was in 2004,” Shadrix said.

The new single was written by Jonathan Montgomery, a friend of the group from Ashburn, Ga. The song was written to reach out and minister to people.

“It kind of talks about how the world isn’t going to know unless we go out and tell them,” Shadrix said. “That song pretty much expresses the vision of our ministry. We’ve been pretty excited that its had the success with radio that it has because it pretty much expresses the way we feel about our ministry.”

Henry had a range of emotions after learning their new song hit the music charts.

“I was extremely excited ... very blessed and humbled by it,” Henry said. “The song has a tremendous message behind it. The song represents the ministry and what we do and the fact that we’re just out here trying to tell the good news.”

May has proven to be a big month for the group, which is also celebrating its 11th anniversary with a concert Saturday at Holy Ground Baptist Church in Roopville, four miles south of Walmart on Highway 27 in Carrollton. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m., and feature special guests BY FAITH from Manchester, Tenn. Dinner plates will be offered at 5 p.m.

Admission is free to the public.

“It’s just an event we put on every year in the community and its had pretty good success in the past few years,” Shadrix said. “We’ve been singing and traveling since 2001.”

He first formed the group with is older brother in 1999.

“I was only 14 years old,” Shadrix said. “I went to Villa Rica High School until the ninth grade, then I finished high school on the road by home schooling. I’ve been doing this a long time.”

During that time, Shadrix has seen a variety of places and met a lot of people.

“What I enjoyed the most is seeing everywhere you go, no matter what state, all the people are pretty much the same,” Shadrix said. “Everybody has the same problems, same issues.”

He also enjoys that their music often gives people hope. The group’s travels brought the members a lot of special memories to share back home such as the opportunities that have arisen over the years, such as singing on a gospel music cruise and going to El Salvador with World Vision, a non-profit organization that helps children in third-world countries.

“I didn’t think I would ever get the chance to do those type of things and God just opened the door for me to do that type of thing,” Shadrix said.

Henry, who has been with the group since 2000, enjoys being able to minister to people.

“I just love the fact that we have a ministry and we can be true to that part of it and I get to do it with family because Barry is part of my family now,” Henry said.

Shadrix married Henry’s niece, Jill.

“I’ve been singing with him for almost 11 years now,” Henry said. “I also write a lot of the music for the group.”

It has also given them many funny tales to share. During one trip, the trio were traveling in a bus driven by Henry’s father and it happened to be her first weekend on the road with the group.

“We were going to sing at this small church on top of a mountain in North Carolina,” Shadrix said. “When we got there, there was nowhere to park.”

While searching for a parking spot, they went down the wrong road and accidentally backed off into a ditch.

“It wasn’t funny at the time,” Henry said. “I was terrified. After they pulled the bus out the ditch, I went inside the church and slept on one of the pews.”

The group would usually sleep on the bus when arriving at a location late at night.

“I was too scared after that point,” Henry said.

The rest of the group joined her in the pews of the church and a once scary event has turned into one they can all laugh about.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Benefit Concert

There will be a Gospel Music Singing to benefit the tornado victims of Ringgold, GA on Friday, May 13 at 7:00. The concert will be held at Covenant Life Worship Center in Chickamauga, GA. LoveSong Trio, The Shadrix Trio and The Greesons will be the featured artists of the evening.

The National Weather Service confirmed that an ef-4 tornado ripped through the town of Ringgold, GA. As a result, Governor Sonny Perdue declared Ringgold to be in an official state of emergency. Many business and home owners have suffered extreme damage and loss and are in desperate need of basic living supplies and financial support. Admission to the concert will be free, however a love offering will be collected and given directly to officials of the Ringgold Tornado Relief Fund.

LoveSong Trio, of Ringgold, GA, will be performing. LoveSong Trio consists of Corey& April Groce and Rhonda Frye. Corey Groce is no stranger to gospel music. He has been singing for over 25 years. He traveled with Choo-Choo City, LoveSong Trio and has filled in with many groups including the Kingsmen Quartet and The Shadrix Trio. Corey has also worked in promotions for groups such as the Whisnants and the Perrys. April Groce appeared on the music scene as a stand-in alto singer for LoveSong Trio, but was so well-received she took the position when it became available. Corey and April are active members at Covenant Life Worship Center. Rhonda Frye sings soprano and also is a songwriter/soloist and worship pastor at Rock Pointe church. Rhonda released her first solo project and is receiving national and international air -play. LoveSong Trio took a few years off the road in order to focus on church ministry for a season, but is now making appearances again as a trio.

The Shadrix Trio, of Carrolton, GA, is an exciting, anointed ministry that has been traveling

and singing the good news of Jesus Christ across the country approximately 250 dates per year. The Shadrix Trio has performed and shared the stage with many well known names in Southern Gospel Music. Barry Shadrix has been singing since age 12 and started the group in 1999. Soprano, Dedra Henry, joined the group in 2000. Dedra is also a producer, song-writer and studio background vocalist and has one of the best voices in gospel music today. Angela McCaslin is the newest member of the group, but has strong roots in gospel music too. Beloved, home-town favorites- The Greesons, are scheduled to take the platform as well. When the Greeson’s take the stage, they are on a mission! They have one goal and one goal only and that is to see souls come to the Lord. The Greesons are a family group that began its ministry with Lisa and Karen’s parents, Rev. Herschel and Elon Greeson. The next generation has carried on and become a multi-charting group ministering to tens of thousands- approximately 250 times per year. The Greesons still mourn the recent loss of Tony Dykes, Lisa’s late husband, but appear to have a re-newed passion to keep spreading the gospel of Christ.

Wow- what a weekend. We are on our way home from Bonneau, SC. God has moved in the services ALL weekend long. God never ceases to amaze me. It started with an awesome service in Olar, SC then we headed to Saint Stephen, SC. All I can say is AMAZING. They were celebrating their 75th homecoming service and such sweet spirit filled the house. God certainly came on the scene and everyone was in one accord. It seemed as if every person in the room had come together for the hour with one purpose... to PRAISE GOD! It was wonderful.

We left there and headed to Victory Baptist Church in Bonneau, SC. Just when you think things couldn't continue to be so amazing...it was. The service was great and the altar service was great. Lots of people came and poured themselves out on the altar before God and BEST OF ALL- and elderly lady was saved! God is still in the saving business folks! This makes every mile we travel worth it!

He is so worthy to be praised!

Well, we sang tonight @ True Faith Ministries in Olar, SC. It was a great service and God certainly moved in the service. We are at the Holiday Inn Express just north of Charleston, SC now. We will be headed to Saint Stephen, SC in the morning to sing @ Saint Stephen Christian Outreach Church of God for their homecoming. Tomorrow night we will be headed to Victory Baptist Church in Bonneau, SC. After than we will be headed back to GA and should arrive in Carrollton around 3-4 a.m. God has been moving in amazing ways in the services lately. Its so amazing to see how God is the same no matter where you are at. He touches lives and stirs people in such awesome ways. We go into some places and have no idea what God is about to do until HE comes on the scene and totally changes someone's life. I'm so glad that He did that in my life!

We have a busy November coming up- We plan to start preparing for a new recording and the Smoky Mountain Weekend Getaway is approaching fast! If you have never attended this event... you need to! Staying Busy and Building the Kingdom

God is good and we are a BLESSED people! We are currently going through Louisville, KY on our way to Bedford, IN. We sing tonight with Angie's dad's group, The Sonshiner's Quartet at the Schafer Auditorium in Bedford. Then tomorrow we sing in Salem Indiana at New Beginnings Baptist Church.

God has certainly blessed us in our travels and ministry. Please continue to pray for us while we journey for HIM. In the past several months God has really revealed HIS power to us in the worship services. We've seen souls saved, lives changed and re-dedicated and walls of bondage broken down in the atmospheres of true worship. It's been a busy year, but we are so thankful to travel each mile for HIM. Keep an eye on our schedule and come see us in the up coming weeks in IN, GA, SC, AL and TN.

We'll we are nearing our destination so I better log off for now.

Wow. What a trip. We are on our way back to GA. My Dad is driving and I am trying to catch some z's- lol. God certianly moved in the services today. It totally amazes me that after all these years of singing and serving Him that He still comes in the midst of our services and moves in such a mighty way. Sometimes He just makes it cystal clear to us what He is doing and lets us know that we are not the ones in control of this thing. He knows what He is doing and works it all out. That's cool. Well pray for us while we travel. I'm typing this on my cell phone so I think i'm gonna sign off. I just wanted to stop by and tell you guys how good our God is.

It has been a long time since I have posted anything on here... sorry about that. I hope that everyone is doing well! We've had so much going on. We've been busy on the road as well in our personal lives. Our last several weeks on the road have been so great. God has been right in the middle of our services! We recently had our 9th Annual Anniversary Concert. We had such a good service and it was great to see everyone that came out for that event. We just got in from a singing tonight and we are looking forward to the singing in the morning in Oxford, AL.

We've been preparing for Jeremy and Lindsey's wedding which will be coming up on June 6th. Many of you have met them at the annual Smoky Mountain Weekend Getaway. Jeremy is my brother-in-law and he and Lindsey along with my wife (Jill) do drama each year in Pigeon Forge.

Please continue to pray for our ministry. With the state of our economy, it has been a little more difficult out on the road, but I'm so thankful that God never fails us. You hear so many people talking about difficult times lately. As Christians, we can trust in a never-failing God to supply all of our needs according to His riches in Glory. Despite the economic downturn, God is in control. I can look at my life and my surroundings and realize that I am so BLESSED. Too many times we try to count blessings in a material manner. God has supplied us breath in our lungs, shoes on our feet, wonderful families and most of all HIS free gift of Salvation. I'm so glad that He is in control of my life and that I can depend on Him!

New Kid on the Block!

WOW!! What can I say, I am truly blessed to be a part of TST. Talk about a culture change! I come from a city with a population of 100,000 people and businesses that are piled on top of each other all cramped together, to a population of only 20,000 and everything is so spread out. Also the the different word phrases such as "mash a button" instead of "push a button", or "Coke", could be either, Pepsi, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, or even just Coke! It's all new to me. I understand about 3/4 of what people say around me. I have to ask them to repeat themselves at least 2 times! Boy, have I got a lot to learn! Well, I am always ready for a challenge. I've been reassured by Barry, Jill, and Dedra, that I will be understanding this language in a couple of months. I was even told I would be speaking it as well. We'll see!

I would like to thank you all for welcoming me to the TST. I appreciate your encouragements!! It gives me great joy to know that I am accepted into a truly anointed ministry. I'm looking forward to seeing what GOD is gonna do through TST.

I've been in GA now for almost 3 weeks, and am having the time of my life! I am currently staying with Barry and Jill who have lovingly welcomed me into their home. They are the best!! And mom, you don't have to worry, I've been helping around the house! I even cooked dinner the other night, and cleaned up afterwards! lol

I've been looking for a job for almost 2 weeks now. The job market is real low here in Carrollton, but I know I cannot-I mean will not give up. So I've been relying on that for help. Plus I've had such uplifting words from friends and family. I'm heavily relying on the scripture found in Philippians 4:13, "...I CAN do ALL things through CHRIST which strengtheneth me...." Please keep me in your prayers.

Also, please keep the TST in your prayers. We want to go full force for GOD. We know that we have a calling and want to fulfill it! We want to see God move like we've never seen before. TST truly believes in the power behind the music. GOD'S POWER! Music is great, but when you put with it HIS Mercy, Love, Forgiveness, Peace, Protection, what HE'S done, and what HE'S gonna do? Man oh man, you can't tell me that someones not gonna get blessed!

What a week-

We have just returned from the 2nd Annual "Gloryland Gospel Cruise." What a week...
This year's cruise took us to Key West and Nassau Bahamas. Unfortunately the weather was cold- in the 60's all week. Despite the cold weather, we had a tremendous time! The worship services and concerts were amazing. God moved all week long. There were a lot of talented groups on board the ship this year (Carnival's Fascination). We enjoyed the fellowship of the guests and other artists and certianly enjoyed the shore excursions in Key West and Nassau. Make plans to join us for next year's cruise! We truly have an awesome time and turn that cruise ship into a "Good Ole Gospel Ship."
This week was Angie's first official week with TST and she did an outstanding job. She sang under the anointing and was well received by everyone. Be sure to come out next time we are in your area and hear the new sound.

Stay encouraged this week, God has been so good to each of us. Remember, He woke us up this morning, put air in our lungs and started us on our way. He is so deserving of every ounce of Praise that we can send up! My prayer is that God would put someone in our path this week that we can be a witness to. Now more than ever, Let's spread the Good News of Jesus Christ!

I wanted to stop by and let everyone know what was going on in TST world. It has been a while since I have written- sorry. Well, most of you know that our ministry has went through some changes this past year and it was a trying year. We are about to start a new journey...
Our 2009 itinerary is filling up quickly and we will even be doing 2 (TWO) Christmas tours this year (of course in the 4th quarter...Christmas in July doesn't always go over great-lol).
Our new vocalist, Angie McCaslin is coming on board with our ministry and she will be here tomorrow. She is in the process of relocating from her hometown in Mishawaka, IN. She will be here tomorrow (Thursday) and we will sing on Saturday in Alabama, Sunday at Dedra and Jesse's home church in Franklin, GA and then we will be off to Jacksonville, FL to catch a boat for the week. We will be cruising this year to the Bahamas with Gloryland Cruises. Make plans to join us next year. Be sure to drop Angie a note welcoming her to TST (angie@theshadrixtrio.com). I know that all of you will really like her- come out and see us when we are in your area.

Also- the Smoky Mountain Weekend Getaway 2009 is in the planning stage and we are almost done with the plans. You need to join us this year! Smoky Mtn Weekend Getaway- 2008 (It's almost HERE!)

The 3rd annual Smoky Mountain Weekend Getaway is just around the corner. Each year this event has proven to be a time of renewal and refreshment. In past years many artists and guest have left the event with a new outlook and closer relationship with the Lord. This retreat-like event is like a revival. We will arrive with great expectations that God will move in a mighty way during the weekend. Our prayer is that someone in attendance can draw strength from each ministry represented.
After the concert Friday night, we will have a blast at the Pajama Party. We will laugh and enjoy each other’s company. Last year’s PJ party ended up with an amazing testimony service with many guests sharing deep personal testimonies with each of us. This goes to show you that God can work in an awesome way, even at a PJ party.
Before Saturday’s evening concert we will have dinner in the concert hall. It will be a buffet style banquet with a touch of elegance. The food is amazing!
As time approaches, please pray with us about this event. Even if you will not be attending this year, please pray for the event!

Howdy yall, boy that sounds really country! I just wanted to let everyone know that all is well at the Henry house. I went through surgery last Friday and everything was great! I did so well that I got to come home the next day...I know, can you believe it! I was told that I would at least be there for 3 days. God is so good, I went for my check-up Thursday and the Dr. told me that all my pathology reports came back negative! To God be the glory. I thank all of you who prayed for me and I ask that you continue to do so. I am recovering so quick...I will be able to return to singing in another week...and I have decided that I will be attending NQC after all! I just can't get over how good I feel....I know what your thinking...trust me I am trying not to over do it!

I just want thank Jesus that He watched over me through this very scary time in my life. This time last year I lost my dad. He had cancer and I was facing that I could have it as well. I say this often...God works in His way and in His will and in His time! Proverbs 3-5,6 is my favorite and I stand on it daily. He still has work for me to do and I am blessed to be able to continue to do it!

WHAT A WEEKEND!!!

In my first couple of months of singing with TST, I have to say this past weekend was the most exciting yet. Friday night, we were in concert with Hope's Journey, Enlisted, and Josh and Ashley Franks at Bethany Christian Church. We had an awesome night and the spirit was moving in every performance. I was able to meet some intersting people this weekend.

Many times in life it's easy to get depressed, discouraged, and downtrodden. I'm glad to know that I can, as the bible says, approach the throne room boldly and lay my needs at his feet. No matter what life may throw at us, we always have the promise, that Across the River we'll be healed forever more.

Good morning. My eyes are heavy this morning and I really want to go back to bed, since I can't do that I'll just go ahead and give God some PRAISE that He is so worthy of.
We had a good weekend...we sang at Blake's church yesterday (Young's Grove) and had a great service. There was such a sweet spirit in the service and the alter was used. There are so many churches out there that rarely use the alter. I know there is nothing special about the kneeling bench at the front of the church...but there is something awesome about how you can go there and turn everything over to God and get up feeling much lighter and restored.

On our way home from the church we had a flat tire on our trailer. Regardless of it being 100 degrees outside (so it seemed), I thought I would jump out and change the tire really quickly and we would be on our way. Well... you know our bunch- of course we wouldn't think of making sure we had a good spare tire before we leave home- HA. We had a really nice "Dry-rotted" spare tire. We made a few trips to town and finally found a place open that had a tire to fit our trailer. God kept us safe and we even made it to Cracker Barrel for a nice lunch with our nice waitress Laura.

This week is a busy one, but I am looking forward to it. Dedra and Jesse's church is in revival through Wednesday night. I am singing with my dad and two brothers tonight at revival at my parents church. Blake will be preaching at Dedra and Jesse's church tomorrow night along with Young's Grove Drama team doing drama. Friday night and Saturday morning is the Beth Moore satellite feed at Glenloch Baptist Church where we will be singing in Franklin, GA and then we head to North Carolina Saturday afternoon for service there Sunday morning.

Exciting Beginnings

Wow!!! It's amazing how God works. I can remember a few years ago at The Shadrix Homecoming at Mt. Holly Church of God, looking at these guys like they were super heroes. Now, here I find myself singing right beside them. I am excited about the things God is going to do with this ministry, and i'm glad I have the oppurtunity to be a part of it. Can you believe it? We are half way through 2008. This year is flying by. I pray that each of you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. We did not sing this past weekend, but we were able to spend some quality time with our families. I have to admit that I grilled out more this weekend more than I have in the past year! Friday night we watched a fireworks show just near where Jill and I live. Saturday night we went to Dedra's neck of the woods and watched fireworks there. The celebration there was neat because they had funnel cakes! We stood in line for about 30 mins waiting on a funnel cake and it began to pour rain! I was determined to get a funnel cake, so Me, Jill and Dedra remained in the line in spite of the rain and finally enjoyed our funnel cake, even though we were soaking wet...

God is so amazing and all of us should be so thankful for the Independence that we have in our country but most of all the freedom that God has blessed us with in HIM.

There are times when God begins to work in our lives and we start to wonder what He is doing or we wonder why He is taking us in a certian direction, but when HIS glory is revealed through it all I truly stand amazed. I am a very blessed man and I always want to be found giving GOD the praise HE is so worthy of!

God is Good!

Hello everybody, God is so good! I don't think you and I could say it enough. He is so awesome and His saving grace is amazing. I want to thank God for the awesome time we had yesterday at Kansas Baptist. Yes, I will admit...I was roasting...lol. Despite the temperature outside we managed to have a awesome time and saw several people come to know Jesus as their personal savior! To God be the glory!

I know it's been awhile since I've written...but I wanted to let you guys know I am still here and excited about what God is doing in my life! I need your prayers, I will be having surgery soon and will be out for a little while. However I know God will have me up and ready to minister in song for Him soon after! Last night the minister spoke and said you can not be a christian and go through your walk with God without a storm. This is so true, I believe sometime we forget just how powerful our God truly is, until He speaks to those storms. Just as the song "That's Him" says... the wind tapped the wave on the shoulder and said....shhhh...that's Him. Everything must obey God!

I love you guys and hope to see you at a concert real soon! Be blessed and keep the faith!

TST has been very busy for the past several weeks...Praise the Lord!! It seems hard to find the time to stop in and update y'all on what's going on. So, I wanted to stop in and let everyone know that we are doing great and things are going wonderfully well! TST had the opportunity to witness the salvation experience of one of our own dear family members last weekend and talk about becoming overflowed with joy!!! Our God is truly AMAZING!! The Shadrix Trio enjoyed a great day of food and entertainment aboard the Chattanooga Riverboat on Saturday, April 5th. We had the opportunity to be part of the Lamp Music breakfast cruise, along with several other artists from our record label. The event was lots of fun, even though we had to roll out of bed @ 5:00 a.m.!! It was an awesome time of fellowship and singing with our friends and families! TST Urgent Prayer Request

Good evening, friends! TST stands in need of your prayers!
Last Saturday, Dedra Henry, soprano for TST, developed a severe back strain while preparing to leave for our weekend dates. Dedra has been battling horrible, intense pain and discomfort since! Then, on Saturday night, after having the flu for almost a week, Dedra's baby girl, Abby, woke up unable to move her right leg! Everytime we moved her she would scream in pain! Not knowing what was going on, Abby was taken to Egleston Children's Hospital for tons of tests and evaluations. The doctors have determined that infection from the flu has settled into Abby's hip joint and if not cleared up with medication, surgery may be deemed necessary.
TST refuses to accept a report of possible surgery! We believe in God's power of provision!! The scripture says, in Matthew 21:22 "...and ALL things you ask in prayer, believing, you WILL receive!" TST is believing that God is going to bring healing to both Dedra and Abby! Despite the enemy's attempt to cause worry and fear, TST is asking that our prayer partners help us lift this petition to the throne of God, believing that HE will minister healing!!

Weekend Update

Good evening friends! It's been several days since I have had the opportunity to drop in, so I wanted to let you know how things were going. This past weekend TST sang at my home church in Lafayette, GA... remember the old song, "Oh the Glory Did Roll"? Well, it most certainly did!! The Spirit of the Lord was AWESOME! During the services on Sunday, we witnessed the life-changing power of God sweep through the congregation as several people walked the aisle to surrender their heart to the Lord!!!! WOW, God is so Amazing! Just to be there and see the transformation from sinner to saint is very humbling! Please continue to pray for TST that our lives and our testimony can be an inspiration to somebody else! Thank all of you who support this ministry; we can't do what we do without God, first and foremost, and also you!

How can we prove God's faithfulness to get us where we are, without first knowing His gentleness to bring us through where we have been?

Good afternoon... to be honest, it was not too long ago that I got out of bed. I slept until 1:00 pm today... I know you are thinking, "man you are lazy", but I had to do some catching up. We had morning service on Jan 10th at New Springs Church in Franklin, GA then started to Mobile, AL. We boarded Carnival Cruise Line's "Holiday" early monday morning and then our week began. We had a wonderful time on board and sang every day. We had morning devotionals and afternoon and evening concerts. It was almost like being in a revival! There was a lot of good talent on board the ship. We were in port at Cozumel, MX and Calica, MX on Wednesday and Thursday. The weather was great (high 80's)! Of course the food was amazing as usual. You need to make plans to join us for next year's cruise on board Carnival's "Fascination." You can contact our office to sign up. We'll we made it back to Mobile on Saturday morning. We debarked the ship and after loading all of our sound equipment we left and headed for First Baptist Church- Villa Rica, GA. We arrived just in time to set up our equipment. We had an awesome worship service along with "Hope's Journey", "Enlisted" and "Saving Grace." The concert was promoted by "Three Wise Men Promotions" and turned out to be a great sucess. The altars were full and such a sweet spirit filled the sanctuary. We left there, dropped by IHOP for supper and finally arrived back at home about 2:30 am this morning. God has blessed us with another safe an anointed trip. To God be the GLORY!

Dead End Roads "True Story"

Okay, I had told you all before that we had made a wrong turn on our trip to South Carolina, and that I would tell you more about it later; the time has come...LOL!!

TST was booked at Florence Baptist Church in Pelion, SC for a Sunday night concert on Jan. 27th. We were heading in the right direction, that is until we spotted a road that was called, "Florence Church Road". Being as that was the church we were singing at, my suggestion was that we should turn...all the while "Bonnie" was saying to stay straight!! I mean we were like a mile from the church, this had to be the right way!!! Anyway, we made the turn! The road was an old dirt and sand driveway. As we drove down it we could see the church down at the end. Good job, or so we thought! When we had made it to the end, there was a mound of dirt about 8' high separating us from the church!! It was the old church driveway!! So, there was no way to get to the church without crossing the HUGE pile of dirt in front of us!!! The worst part is that there was only one way for us to go and there were "NO TRESPASSING" signs all across the fence of the property with the only spot large enough for us to turn around! (The yard was full of big...huge barking dogs as well!!) We were thinking that this could be the end of TST...LOL!!!! Boy, what a time!!! We did manage to get turned in the right direction and went flying down the drive, heading back to the main road! Did you know that heavy vehicles slide instead of stopping in sand? Well, a word to the wise...when you're driving a little fast on a dirt and sand driveway and you hit your brakes, chances are you're going to slide instead of stop! Finally, the sand cooperated and we had stopped just at the end of the drive!!!!

Nobody ever said that you had to be smart to sing Gospel music...LOL! Therefore, we leave our navigating to God and "Bonnie"!!! People ask what they can pray for, on TST's behalf? "...Lord, help this group of basket-cases to arrive safely!" (Thank goodness that Moses was a basket-case, too!!! LOL!)

Silent Witness

Have you ever met somebody that, without any great effort, just seemed to make an impact on your life? Somebody who went completely out of their way to do something extraordinarily special, during a time when you needed it most...? In the society that we live in, today, life is lived more as a career than a blessing from God! What I mean is, where are those people who used help a sweet ole' lady cross the street? Those who would just share a friendly smile to a passer-by in the market? What has happened to simply calling up a friend just to ask how they are doing? It almost seems that we have lost touch with each other, as people!! By all means, don't get me wrong here. We have to work our jobs, take care of families, attend those meetings, etc... However, when life becomes so "busy" that we forget about the most important of God's creations, "people" then we have drastically failed to recognize our purpose in life! How many people do you know that have passed from this life to their eternal reward in Heaven? What did they take with them? According to the teachings of the Bible, the only thing that will carry over to our life with Christ in Heaven will be the other "people" who have accepted HIM as their Savior!! You see, the things of this world...ALL OF THEM are temporary; people are the only things that are ETERNAL!! The man/woman that you wish not to sit beside on the bus, get frustrated at in the check-out lane @ Wal-mart, look down upon because their hygeine is lacking while in the doctor's office...those are the "things" that we can invest in and take with us to Heaven!! If I lost everything else in this life, materially, then I have lost nothing...but if I lose the opportunity to share Christ with somebody, then I have lost it all!!! Investments of this world are good! (I wish I had just a few more...lol!) However, even better than our investments at the bank is the time that we can share with another! As the body of Christ, the representatives of Him in this life, let's share the Good News of His love with someone today!! "Lord, make us more like you!!!" May we become those who go out of their way to help others...may we become those Silent Witnesses!!!!!

Making It All Fit...

Often times I find myself so consumed with "stuff" that it seems God is simply not listening when I pray... Ever been there? When the bills are due, the car needs serviced, the laundry needs to be done, the work duties completed, pick-up my nephew from school, prepare dinner, visit with the family, etc., then try and squeeze in some prayer time and bible reading just before bed! Isn't that the way we live our lives? This agenda just doesn't seem to work and/or it leaves me SO exhausted that by the time I start my prayer, after the, "Dear Lord, I pray..." I am waking up to discover that I nodded off! If we are totally honest, we rarely give God even a tenth of our lives as a whole! However, when the tests and trials of life seem to surmount, God is the first thing that comes to mind!! So, I wanted to share a visual description with you that I heard a few years back, and I hope that this will help you to put life into perspective order! I have tried it myself and it really works!! Here it goes...

Imagine if you took a water pitcher:
1) Place about 3 or 4 large rocks inside of it.
2) Now, pour in some small gravels. They will fall into all the open spaces to make the volume of the container appear full then, huh?
3) Then, get some sand. It's granules are so tiny that you could shake the pitcher a little and get quite a bit of sand between the gravel and the rocks! Now the pitcher is filled!! Wait, not so fast!
4) Lastly, (just when you thought you couldn't get anything else to fit), you can take a glass of water and as you pour the water into the pitcher it will press away the air bubbles left from the sand and fill them up making the container finally completely FULL, yet contained without overflowing!!!

If you tried this illustration, literally, then way to go! However, you can take the same pitcher and try these steps backwards. What happens? It doesn't work! The contents spill over the edge! The only way to get all of the objects and substances to fit, you have to put the large rocks into the container first! WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH LIFE? Okay, I will tell you! Your life is symbolized by the water pitcher. The large rocks represent God. All of the other things can be the important things that you have to get done. If we start our day, first and foremost with God, then there is always room for the other "stuff" to fit!! It may be a full day, but it will all fit! However, when you try to put the "stuff" first (the water, sand and gravel) and then try to squeeze God in last (the big rocks) the contents overflow!!!!! Strange analogy, but I think God designed it that way! If you put Him first in your everyday life, then you will find that there is ALWAYS enough room left to fit the "STUFF"!

TST's Cruising to Mexico!!!

Just 11 more days and TST will be setting sail for Cozumel, Mexico!!! "Es muy bueno!" (...dear Lord I hope that says "this is very good!" ) We are very excited to be cruising aboard the Carnival Holiday! We leave port in Mobile, AL on Monday, February 11 and will return to port on Saturday, February 16...that's 5 whole days of cruising and singing!! TST would love to have you be a part of our Western Carribean Cruise for 2009, if you didn't get to sign-up for this year; so keep in touch with our website as this information will be uploaded very soon! Our New Friend "Bonnie"

TST is proud to announce a new addition to their ministry!! Her name is Bonnie Maps...she is a very smart, innovative and very talkative Portable Navigational System!! Yes, Bonnie is our new "Road Manager"!!! (Sorry, Dedra...just kidding!) During our travels this past weekend, to South Carolina, Bonnie was a constant reminder, "right turn in 1 mile...right turn in 800 yards...right in turn 700 yards...right turn in 600 yards...RIGHT TURN NOW!!!!" Needless to say, other than 1 minor error that lead us down a dead end driveway of sand (that's an entirely different post - ha, ha), Bonnie has officially become the newest Shadrix member!! Her accompanying the trip was very helpful despite our trying to follow our own path a few times!

I found that Bonnie's taking leadership over our trip was a reminder, to me, of how God leads us in our everyday lives. I know it probably sounds crazy to compare God's leadership in our life to an On-the-Road navigation system, but it's really true! Once our point of destination was keyed into Bonnie's data bank, we could have taken a course 500 miles in a different direction, seemed like we did at times to find fuel, but she could pinpoint EXACTLY where we were at and would put us right back to our path of travel...isn't God the same way? Many times in our lives we may find that our direction may become a little blurred or that the need for getting things done has, in a way, side-tracked our course. However, no matter where we are and regardless of how confusing lifes twists and turns seem to make us feel, God knows our "final" destination!!! HE is faithful to keep us on our course of travel toward our eternal home in Heaven! May be a crazy concept, but hey, it works for me! So, thanks Bonnie for keeping us on course and reminding us of God's leadership in our ministry! May we travel many miles until we reach our final destination with our God leading the way!!!!!

I would never be able to express how uplifting it has been to read some of the letters that have come our way. Please continue to pray for me and my family. Loosing someone someone so close to you, especially your father, is something that you can not explain unless you have been there. Praise God we do have peace in knowing that he is in the presence of God.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST !!!!!

Please pray for Dedra's dad, James Head and the whole family. Paw Paw went into the hospital on monday with pneumonia, during the test they discovered blood clots in his legs, and a mass in his lung. The doctors have told them he possibly has cancer, but we know a God who knows a lot more than doctors do..He will be having a biopsy in the morning at 8 am and we are calling for all prayer warriors to bombard the throne room on behalf of this man and his family.

Romans 8:28 says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose".

Paw Paw traveled and sang for years along with Dedra and her mother (Nanny) as The Head Family. He "retired" only to travel and drive the bus for The Shadrix Trio until he retired again several years ago.

We are asking for those of you who know Dedra, to respect her privacy and time right now. She is concentrating on her father and family.

A New Direction

Thank you for all the warm wishes, cards, and wedding gifts that Barry and I have received. We had a beautiful wedding (I promise pics soon). There were over 400 people in attendance. My dad said he counted 92 people that said they were coming but didn’t show up and to that he added “I’m glad they didn’t”. Barry S and Dedra did an awesome job singing. Barry sang “She Was Watching” as my parents gave me away...a real tear jerker. Then he and Dedra sang duet on “1000 Miles” and “When God Made You, He Must Have Been Thinking About Me” – I think they became official professional wedding singers as I heard some folks were trying to book them for their or their family member’s weddings.....who knows there could be a “Barry & Dedra: The Wedding Singers Greatest Hits” CD to hit the shelf one day. Jill was a beautiful bridesmaid – as was Anna. Andrew was very handsome as Jr. Groomsman – and Abby welll... she was Abby – (she didn’t want “Bubba” to take her to Nanny after she had walked down the aisle) it was great though...Jesse did a great job praying over us and talking about the unity candle. Even Terry Helms cleaned up right nice as one of our groomsmen...Thanks to all you guys for making our day special ... Wish all of the TST fans could have been there too...

God has a perfect timing and perfect plan for His children. For sometime now God has been dealing with me and leading in a different ministry. As most of you know, my husband, pastors Oak Hill Church of God of Prophecy, in Temple. We officially were appointed on Sunday, July 22. As I said, the Lord has been dealing with me for sometime about my role as a pastor’s wife. I feel it is time for me to come off the road and work side by side with my husband to build the kingdom of God.
I am so thankful for the 3 yrs I have spent traveling with The Shadrix Trio – I would never trade the many miles, smiles, laughs and tears we have shared. But most of all I would never trade all the lives that I have seen come to know the Lord through our ministry. I will still be apart of TST as I will work some in the office – I just wont be traveling. I will miss seeing all of you – but know that you are truly in my heart and I have been blessed to get to know so many of TST’s fans!!! Keep Barry G, myself and our church in your prayers – we have a lot of work to do – I am honored that God has chosen us to serve Him this way. This will be a new undertaking – but I know that God will not lead us into anything that HE will not equip us to go.

To Barry S & Dedra: Thanks for the opportunity to travel and minister with TST. I truly can say I have been blessed to share the road with you. What a Life-

Good evening!! It's been a while since I have written. I hope that this entry finds everyone doing great & BLESSED of the Lord. Lots of things have been going on in my world lately. Jill and I have moved into a new house...WOW- we are still living out of boxes. They are everywhere and continue to multiply!! God has been so good to us. Sometimes I find myself forgetting that...I never want to forget how much HE has brought me through. A few weeks ago my grandmother (MawMaw) passed away. She was 87 years old and such a saint of God. It makes me a little more homesick to see my loved ones going on... She is in Heaven with my Grandad that passed a few years ago and most of all she is there with my Jesus!!
Linda is married (hitched) and the wedding turned out great!! TST took a little vaca before the wedding and spent some time on the beach.
Dedra, Jesse, Andrew, Anna and Abby are in the process of moving as well. Not officially moving yet, but they are remodeling a home near the church where Jesse is pastor. They will be moving that way really soon. The thing is...I moved closer to them and then they move farther away...LOL
Anyway...I just wanted to drop by and let everyone know what God is doing in Shad-World. I love you guys & continue to pray for our families and our ministry that we would ALWAYS be found doing the will of our Father! That is the only thing that will count in these last days-

Hi Everyone ~

Wow -- I can't believe I have 8 more days as a single girl. Things are so busy right now as most can imagine. I am actually leaving Sunday after our morning service to head to Florida to spend the week with my family to finish up the wedding "stuff". I sit back and am amazed at God's timing. He knows what is best for us and if we will be willing to wait and seek His face to know His will (and to borrow from Barry S.) not just seek His hands for what He can give us, He will provide just what we need and truly want. He knows the desires of His children's hearts. One of my favorite songs that has been out for a while is "The Greater Yes" by The Whisnants. It talks about how sometimes we pray and pray for things and sometimes we might not like the answer He gives -- my favorite line in the song is "Trust God if He says, 'No,' you're still blessed. There must be a greater, 'Yes.'" Truly God has a best for us and I can say He blessed me with a wonderful man of God in Barry George. Barry always says I am his blessing but he is MY blessing!!!! If you haven't met him you will.... I ask that you pray for us as we begin our life together.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to my dear friends Terry & Jessica Helms. Terry has been filling in for me when I haven't been able to go -- I had oral surgery last Saturday. He will be filling in until I get back. I owe him and his beautiful wife Jessica big time!!!!

I look forward to seeing you all on the road when I come back as a married woman!!! Be sure to keep TST in your prayers as we all we be traveling to FL on Sun afternoon.....

Giving God Praise!!!

Psalm 92:1 says "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High"

This weekend was a weekend full of praise. Friday night TST filmed a Live Video (stay tuned for the release date) in McDonough, GA at The Ole Country Church. Praise the Lord a man came back to the Lord after being away for 27 years, after Dedra shared her daddy's (PawPaw) testimony. Then Saturday night we were in Bremen, GA and the altar's were full with people crying out to God. On Sunday morning we were in Douglasville, GA at Abounding Grace Baptist Church and my oh my we all were blessed...Pastor Beech preached a message about the family and I was reminded of how blessed I am to have the christian heritage that I have. I am so thankful my parents raised me and my sister in church. We went to church together as a family. That is a lot of what is wrong with the families today....We need to get back to the glue that holds families together...God!!! Then last night at my home church (where my fiance pastors) we had a praisefest. I just want to give God all the glory.
Barry George and I are extremely busy these days...82 more days until our wedding. We have just bought a house (which I get to move into first - hee hee). So we (well mostly Barry G) are moving all my things from my townhouse to our house. Thanks to my Mom and future Mother-in-law they are helping me with wedding plans...Several folks have requested that we put the pictures from the wedding on the site -- I'll make sure Barry Shadrix gets a lot for you all. Thank you for all the congratulation emails. I appreciate them so much. Keep us in your prayers.

I know...I know, it's been a long time. I hope all is well with everybody :)....things are great at the Henry house. We have a lot of changes coming up this year and I ask that you will pray for us.

Jesse and I have pastored now at New Springs S.C.M for a year. You may wonder how this works with me singing. Well...we have a special group of people that understand that I have a ministry. They support me in all that I do, Jesse even comes with me a lot of the times. We will continue to do whatever we can to build the kingdom of God. He is so good and we need to be about His business.

I want to invite you guys to our shadevents page. I know you can find something that will fit your schedule. We would love for you to come and and support us at our concerts. Maybe you can take a vacation with the shad bunch! We have a good time in the Lord! We have our second annual Smoky Mountain Getaway and a cruise for 2008.

I pray you all had a wonderful Christmas... I went to Florida for a few days and spent Christmas with my family. Mom had a houseful as usual and lots and lots of good food....The rest of TST spent time with their families also.

I just wanted to remind everyone of our upcoming services on New Years Eve. We will be in Waco, GA at Waco Baptist Church beginning at 6:00 pm and then we will go to The Big Tent at 9:00 pm in Ranburne at Exit 205 (off I-20 W) to finish out the old year and ring in the new. What a great way to celebrate and bring in the new year by thanking and worshipping God for all He has done for us. I know that I have truly been blessed this year...

Merry Christmas to all ~
What a wonderful time of the year...Celebrating the birth of our Savior, Redeemer and Lord -- JESUS!!!! It is ALL about the CHRIST CHILD!!!!

Well TST has taken a few weeks off for the Christmas vacation. Dedra & Jesse will spend time with their families as will Barry & Jill in Georgia. I will be traveling on Thursday to Florida to spend the holidays with my family.

Last Thursday night we went to Andrew and Anna's Christmas program at their school. Andrew's class choir sang and Anna's class choir sang and presented a Christmas skit. Anna did a great job also in her Oriental and Jewish dance recital. We then went to Dee and Jesse's for Dee's famous spaghetti .... and exchanged gifts with each other and the kids...what great fun it was --- Abby had a great time opening gifts...she is such a blessing to us all as are Andrew and Anna....watch for new pictures from that evening.

I know we are so busy this time of year - but let's not get too busy that we don't recognize the child born to save us !!! Tell someone about Jesus - share HIS love with those that are hurting and alone....

Hey everyone --- WOW is all I can say about this past weekend. We had a wonderful time in the beautiful Smokie Mountains. First I want to say thank you to all who attended - It was great to see our friends and families and to meet new friends. Also a big THANK YOU to the groups who were there with us....Face to Face - (TOM the MC), The Hendersons (Sonny aka "Billy Bob Whitequail, III but you can call me "JR" - the MC), The Master's Qt - oh my goodness what a great quartet - with a low down bass!!!, Divine 3 - A powerhouse group with a Divine annointing - Love Song a great new trio with a beautiful harmony - The Suwannee River Boys - a little bluegrass thrown in there - Rachel Renee - what a testimony and tremendous talent - she brought the house down with "How Great Thou Art" on Sat night.... Friday night we had some great new talent at the Open Mic Christian Karaoke - Gary Shadrix (Barry's uncle sang Who Am I), Barry's Dad, Terry, sang He Touched Me (wonder where Barry got the talent -- there it is--) also debuted a new trio --- The Shadrack Trio - consisting of Beremy (Jeremy Thurman - Barry's Bro-in-law and Dedra's nephew), Linza (Lindsey Fristad - Jeremy's girlfriend) and Jilldra (Jill Shadrix - Barry's wife and Dedra's niece) they sang He Saw It All and tore the house up!!!!
On Saturday we went to The Miracle Show - if you folks ever have the chance to go to Pigeon Forge - DO NOT MISS this show....it begins with Lucifer being cast out of heaven and ends with Jesus ascention into heaven.....those sitting around Jill, Dedra and myself probably had a hard time hearing over our sobs....I am so thankful for Jesus coming and suffering, bleeding, and dying for my sins!!! He is a WONDERFUL SAVIOR!!!!! One of the most moving scenes to me was as they removed Jesus from the cross and laid Him in Mary's lap - they began to sing "What Child Is This?" I began to think of the tiny baby that was born to die - what a sacrifice was made for me...I pray "Lord let me remember to always be thankful and never forget what you did for me!!!!"

During this Christmas season let us not forget the child born to die for a lost world. Share His love with others....there are so many people hurting today that need to know there is someone they can depend on - who will NEVER let them down...NEVER leave or forsake them and will FORGIVE them and LOVE them !!!! Let's be the star shining pointing the way to Jesus!!!

Well, it all starts tomorrow. I am on the bus right now, almost in Chattanooga and me and Jill were sitting here and thought we should drop you guys a note before the Getaway starts tomorrow. We will get started really early in the morning at the convention center setting up sound and preparing the stage and auditorium. If you didn't get a package, it's ok...pack your bags now and just plan to be at the concerts this weekend. You can pick your tickets up at the Smoky Mountain Covention Center. If you are not able to attend, be sure to keep us in your prayers.
Go ahead and start making plans an WHOLE year in advance to be with us for Smoky Mountain Weekend Getaway 2007 (Nov 30-Dec 2, 2007).
Our prayer is that the folks attending this event would be blessed, uplifted and revived. Most of all if there are any lost people there, they would be saved!!
I will try to stop by again this weekend and let you guys know how it is going, I will also try to post a few photos!

Hey guys,
I just wanted to stop by and say hello. We are in Barnesville, GA- actually sitting in Ingles parking lot waiting on the girls to get back with some groceries- lol. We sang tonight at Midway Baptist Church. God never ceases to amaze me. God has been faithful and blessed anoter service. We will be back in service with the wonderful folks at Midway again in the morning. Pray that God will show up and do an awesome work. He promises us that if we lift HIM up that He will draw all unto Him.
I know that all of us have busy week coming up next week with Thanksgiving. I plan to do lots of eating like I really know how to do. Let us all remember to give Thanks where it us due. God has woke us up another morning and put breath in our lungs. Let us PRAISE Him with every part of our lives and serve Him with all of our being.

Wow- another amazing service. We are back on the road again. We just left Green Acres Baptist Church in Louisville, KY and God never ceases to amaze me. There was such a sweet spirit there. It was so good to visit with our good friends Face to Face (Tom, Leslie and Donna). Many of the church members from Green Acres will be joining us for the Smokey Mountain Getaway!

It has been a while since I have written a blog. Just to fill you in quickly. Jill and I are doing well, she is still in school and is doing well. I think she will make a good nurse one day. Dedra & Jesse are busy as ever with all of their youngens and Linda is staying busy too keeping up with all us!

Let us all be witnesses this next week. Let's pray that God will put people in our paths that we can be a witness to. Let's pray that He will open the doors for us to be bold and stand for HIM. There is nothing like leading a lost soul to the Lord. Let's all pray together that God will allow us in these last days to experience leading this lost and dying world to HIM one soul at a time.

Winter is coming.....and we felt it this morning we woke up and started out and it was 38 degrees in New Castle, IN -- we southerners aren't used to this COLDDDDD!!! We had a wonderful service at Spiceland Pike Church of God -- thank the Lord for 3 souls that were saved. We had a great time of fellowship with Bro & Sis Shinolt and our very special friends Linda Miley and Charlotte Austin who drove down from Elkhart, IN on Sat night. We are on our way to Louisville, KY to Green Acres Baptist Church tonight with our friends Face to Face.

We were talking last night with Pastor Shinolt about faith and not giving up - this day and time it so easy to get discouraged and want to give up ...but GOD is faithful -- we have hold on to Him and not let go ..He will bring us through and what a shame it would be if we give up and we are on the brink of our breakthrough....so I just want to encourage everyone to hold on to His hands and trust that He will bring you through!!!!

We have a few more weeks to go before Smokie Mt Getaway and we have a few rooms left -- you can still sign up through this week - (by Nov 17) .... also we still have tickets for the Riverboat Cruise in Chatanooga on Nov 25 - for more information call our office.

Wow...what a day!!! Dedra, Barry and I left Carrollton Monday morning, Aug 21 and drove to Pigeon Forge, TN for GMT World Premiere Concert. We had a great time. We met so many nice people - It was good to see some of our good friends, Karen, Susan & Devin from Karen Peck & New River, The First Love Gang and nursery...the little Peach boys, Clayton and Shelton, and JP had his beautiful baby girl Macee (just 3 weeks old) there - we'll post pics soon, Safe Harbor and of course, the "GMT Premiere Bosses" Mrs. Faith and Valerie. Thanks to them for treating us so well. Thanks to Val for helping Barry to cool off- LOL . Those of you who can pick up the INSP channel, keep an eye out for TST.

Well, just a few more weeks until NQC in Louisville, KY - hope to see you all there...Be sure to come by our booth and visit (Booths 1730-1732) --We are told that our new "Fight To The Finish" project will be available there. We are very excited about this project. We pray you all will be blessed by the songs we chose.

Well here I am burning the midnight oil...I am so exhausted yet so excited...We just got in a little while ago from laying the last vocals on our new project...We had 2 awesome days in the studio this week completing this cd. It should be out in a few weeks....yep thats right a few weeks so be listening for the announcement. - Our prayer is that you the listener will be ministered to and uplifted by these songs as much as we were recording them.

In case you haven't heard..... Kansas Baptist Church is the place to be July 15th -- TST's 6th Anniversary is only 1 week away....We are so excited about the concert..Have you made plans to be there yet? If not, do so now!!! It is going to be an incredible night of worship and praise. We are gonna start off with Kansas Baptist's Choir - let me just tell you - they are AWESOME!!! We sang there last year and they led us in praise and worship - we were truly blessed. Then Terry Helms will be with us. He is a great, anointed singer, songwriter. Also that night will feature one of Southern Gospel's newest trios...First Love. Some may recognize the folks..Troy Peach traveled and sang with The Wilburns and The Steeles in the past. His wife Katy Van Horn Peach was with The Mike Speck Trio and The Nelons. Their terrfic voices blend with JP Miller, who co-hosted a gospel music tv show "Inside Gospel" with Lou Hildreth on GMT, to form a great trio that will bless your heart. Last but not least - TST will be debuting a few of our new songs off our new project and you will have a chance to pre-order your cd that night. Also we will begin at 3:30 selling BBQ plates for $2.00 per plate.. Hola-
Wow...what a day. I just have got back to my room. Today was one of the most amazing days of my life. We left the hotel this morning at 7am and drove approx 4 hrs to the village / ADP (area development project). First of all, along the way I saw small huts that I just couldn't imagine anyone living like that. We had to drive through creeks and down horrible roads to get to the ADP. When we arrived at the ADP we met with the world vision staff & they explained to us what they were doing in the area. Today's village was an area where World Vision has recently starting working, so it hasn't developed much yet. Tomorrow we will see a more developed village where WV has been working for at least 5 years. The people there should be more established. Just to tell you a little about our visit:
We met a family that had come to the WV clinic to seek help for their 2 twin daughters that were 19 months old. The girls were malnutritioned and had open sores. The WV clinic is assisting to their needs. It was so sad, the parents of these 2 girls walked 3.5 hrs to get to the clinic. They lived at the foot of the volcano & had to leave early to get there. We then went to visit a few families. The first family were potters, WV had set them up and trained them to do pottery to sale. They had 2 girls- Sarah & Brenda (age 5 & 8 / the girls in the picture). They gave me a tour of their one room hut that was made from straw, palm tree limbs and some mud. She & her sister shared a hammock while her parents had another hammock approx. 3 feet away. The small hut was approx 8' x 8'. This was culture shock to me... I was speechless. My heart has surely been broken in a way that it never has before. We then left there and visited another potter. The lady there said that it takes her 5 hours to make 1 pot. On a good week she could make $16 for her entire family from this business (given that there is no rain & weather permits her to work). I asked the staff if I could buy a pot to help her out. She normally gets $0.75 per pot & I only had a $10 bill. They would not allow me to give such a large amount for only 1 pot due to the fact that it could cause a negative effect with her wondering why I was giving so much for 1 pot. They would want tourists to come there more. I ended up giving her $20 for every single pot that she had completed. This was more than she could have made normally. $20 is currently approx 2 weeks salary for her family. They were so thankful for the business & they insisted that they delivery the pots to our bus. WOW- such grateful people. It was the highlight of my day. To think, the $20 bill in my pocket that I gave to this family was equal to a 2 week's pay check. I'm still not sure how I will get all of these boxes of pots home, but I will figure it out. Surely my prayer has been answered only on the second day. My heart has been broken & this has been a life-changing experience & it's only the 2nd day. Please pray for our group (all of us, we have 13 total on this trip). Ernie with Heirline & Johnny from Safe Harbor are here as well (to name some of the Southern Gospel Bunch). We also have a worship leader & some drama teams. Truly some amazing people, there is such a sweet spirit here with these people. I have surely enjoyed our bus rides to the different places, just getting to sing & worship on our way. Please keep praying that God will continue to move in my life just as HE did today. I love the children so much &amp; would love to bring them home with me. I played with them today & they all smile so beautifully.
Well, I better hit the sack, the day starts REALLY early tomorrow!

Hello Guys!
I'm here- I arrived today in El Salvador. The flight was great. Today was simply just to fly down, get checked in & settled. We went to a few shops today to get some things to carry back home, we will be really busy for the rest of the week & won't have time later. Tomorrow we leave at 7am & head to the villages. The first village is 3.5 hours from here. It is surely different here than in the states. Homes are stacked across the hills by the hundreds (what looks like thousands). Most of them are simple tin homes. Please continue to pray for our trip that God will be uplifted & that we can be a blessing to these children. I will try to post some pics this week if the connection will let me upload the pics. I will try to keep you posted on what's going on. Tomorrow is when all of it really starts. I love each of you and I am truly thankful for your prayers!

Hey guys,
I just wanted to stop by & say hello. It's almost 2 a.m. on Sunday morning... I couldn't sleep. I got to thinking about my trip. I leave on Monday morning heading down to El Salvador. You guys be sure to pray for me. I pray that God will use me on this trip in a way that I didn't even expect. I pray that my heart will be broken by the things that break the heart of God. If you guys will stop by here every night, I will try to pop in each evening while I am there & write a little bit about my trip. I pray that God will use me to be uplifting to these people in the villages of El Salvador. Just by reading some of the info on this country, I have found out that it is one of the poorest countries in Central America. Many of the people there are starving and lacking clothes, homes and education. I will be going on the trip with World Vision. They are present in each of these villages & are set up there trying to make a differnce in the lives of these people. Just since my envolvement with this wonderful ministry, I realize that they are really envolved in the lives of these people. They are there providing the people with food, clothes, education & most of all... the are presenting and sharing the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST. All of this is made possible by monthly sponsorships from people like you & me. Me and Jill are currently sponsoring a child from Albania named Fabio. His birthday is this month & we are mailing him some cards and letters this week.

Hey Everybody --
What a wonderful time we had in Johnsonville, SC last night --- WE HAD CHURCH!!! To Pastor and Sis. Stalvey thank you so much for the hospitality and love that you show TST. We can't wait to see y'all again. The Holy Ghost was so real in the service and His power was evident.
Thanks to Heather who helped Barry and me out. She drove up from Albany on Sat night and the 3 of us left out Sun am -- She did a great job -- What a voice!!! You still got it , girl - love you!!

It was good to see our friends in La Grange Sat night - Christianaires, and New Horizon - Chris called us Friday to see TST could help him out in a concert to benefit the American Cancer Society and we were honored to help. The concert was at Bethel Chapel in La Grange and a lot of folks came out to support this worthy cause. They raise over $600 -- Praise the Lord and TST was glad to be a part. I personally had never met New Horizon but they are such sweet friendly ppl. Look forward to seeing them again also.

Just wanted to share a few words with you. I was sitting here in the office reading in Romans and I read some scriptures that just jumped out at me. ( I love it when that happens - something you have read hundreds of time - but its fresh and new everytime)
Romans 8:31, 32
" What shall we say to these things? If God before us who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

I'm glad we have a God who cares about us so much that He , The Almighty, All Powerful, God, would send His most beloved Son to die for us. If He would send His only Son - then He won't withold other things from His children. In James 4:2 the Word says " Ye have not because Ye ask not" - All we have to do is ask our Father and He will do it in His time , in His way and according to His will. What an awesome God we serve!!!

Hello my friends! It is me again. I know that you all are just overwhelmed with excitement to hear from me. LOL. I just thought I would drop by and say hey to everyone. I just returned from house hunting. Wow that is a job let me tell you! It is so frustrating finding a place to live. You find one you like and if you don't act fast it is sold. You have to decide whether or not you want to live within the city limits or if you want to live out in the boondocks. I like this house and Barry likes another. I know that in God's time he will let us know what we need. It is just hard to be patient but, this is a very important decision. Sometimes we want to rush God but, God will never work on our time schedule. He will work in his own time and his own way. I have no doubt in my mind that God will take care of us. He takes care of all of his children. I am so thankful for the blessings God has bestowed on me even though I am so unworthy. I hope you all are having a wonderful day and I love y'all! God Bless

Hey y'all i am on a roll! I have posted 2 blogs within the same month. I am on spring break right now and I am trying to keep myself busy. Instead of writing this blog, I could be doing laundry. I really don't want to do laundry. I just wrote a letter to our sponsored child Fabio. I started thanking God about how blessed we are. He lives in a country that is more than 60% Muslim. I have to be careful about what I say in the letters that I write. I want to share the love of Jesus but, I can not mention his name in my letters. I can mention God, but not Jesus. I have often wondered if this child will know the love of Jesus at all. Finally, I realized that by us caring about him and taking care of his family without us even knowing him will show him something that he might not understand. He will want to know why two people from another country would care for him. When he asks, I will be ready with my answer. I am excited about the day when I will get to share with him the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Some of you may ask, "How do you know that he will even want to know about Jesus?" It is something that I just know. I don't want my story to deter any one from sponsoring a child. We picked this child because we wanted to help make a difference in a place where Chrisitianity is not prevalent. There are a lot of countries that let sponsors openly express their beliefs in their letters. I love being a sponsor especially when you get that first letter. I hope that you will seriously consider sponsoring a child. It is worth it I promise. I wouldn't lie to you. I hope all of you are having a super week. Hey everybody! I am sorry I haven't blogged y'all in a while. You see I forgot my password to get in this thing and Barry had to fix it. You know there are just too many things to remember now. You got to remember your social security number, passwords to emails, and that is just too much for me. I am going to have to get them tattooed on my arm or something. I hope that everyone is doing well. I am doing wonderfully. I am going to be on spring break next week and that is exciting stuff. I was going to do an audio blog but, I thought I would stick to the stuff I know. I don't even think Barry has got me an account for that yet. Who Will Be Your Valentine?

I hope everyone is having a good year so far! We have been doing great. Just to get everybody caught up on TST.....We went to Tx in January for the World Vision Retreat and all I can say is WOW!!! We got to meet new people and fellowship with some we knew. We were very proud of Heirline, who sang great! We also enjoyed dinner with Jenkins & Co.
The weekend was so moving. We got to see exactly what World Vision is doing to help children across the world. It reminded me that as a Christian, it is my duty to do all that I can to show others the love of Christ. The Bible says in James 2:15-18 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone,Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. How easy is it for us to turn our heads and say "Thank You God...I'm so Blessed".

We are the very voice of God and if we can share the compassion and love to someone who is Hungary, Sick, Abandoned and Without Hope. How easy would it be to share that Jesus saw the same need for our soul.

February 14, is coming up.... We all know it as Valentine Day or Love Day. We will probaly spend it with someone we love....buying them a card or candy....maybe even go out to eat at our favorite restaurant. Why not make one of these children our our Valentine? Show Jesus we have faith with works. Spread the gospel which He loves. Feed and clothe a child who might be dying.

I will end with the question in my title. Who will be your Valentine?

Wow....I can't believe we are almost in 2006. Where did 2005 go? A lot of things have happened in 2005. The wonderful addition to our family, Little Miss Abigail. She is already 6 months old and is soooo cute! I love my kids. I have the greatest! The Lord has also blessed me with a great husband, who I want to thank for the beautiful Christmas Vacation. Here is how it happened.

I had planned to go to Pigeon Forge,TN (which is my favorite place this time of year) with my mother. Things just didn't work out. Little did I know that Jesse was planning to take me and the kids there for Christmas. He started a couple of days before Christmas saying, ok you have got to open your Christmas Present. I said No...I want to wait till Christmas morning. He kept saying open it and I kept saying NO! Finally he said ok babe, you have got to open it. I was like well...Ok if you say so. I opened it and there it was...our confirmation on our beautiful suite. The kids had a great time. They got to go to their favorite place The Comedy Barn and Ober Gatlinburg. I have pics coming soon.

I want you all to know how much you mean to TST. We love you!! We have done a lot of soul searching. We want to see more souls saved this year. Our one mission is to get out here and tell the world that Jesus Christ died to save and to set free.Please pray that God will open and close the doors that need to be in the new year. Pray that He will protect us and provide for the ministry so we can keep seeing souls saved. I feel like we really need to work now more than ever. I feel His returning could be any day. I hope you all are having a good holiday season...Wow 3 more days until Christmas seems like we just cleaned up from last year.....All the hustle and bustle....tis the season tho' - Everyone is so busy I am so glad to be out of the city and in the country...lol. I am in Milton, FL with my family (The Hendersons) for the holidays. Mom and I went shopping for a few last minute presents..Yes I am one of those last minute shoppers, but I can proudly say I just need 1 more gift...

Last weekend my parents to my sister and me to Asheville, NC to stay at The Biltmore Inn and tour The Biltmore Estate (more pics to come). We had a blast. Everything was so beautiful. We were hoping for snow but we didnt get see any...wellll there was some "white stuff" on the sides of the walkways and my sister, Lydia, says it was just ice where the valet scraped the sidewalks...I still say it was snow.... snow or no snow, it was COLD!!!! When we left Tues morning the valet had to scrape ice as they were loading our luggage. The temp was 21 degrees with wind chill of 10 degrees. Pretty cold for Florida people...speaking of valets...I really grew accustomed to that luxury..gotta get one of those....thats what I want for Christmas - Nah just kiddin. Anyway it was great to be with my family we haven't had a true family vacation in many years....so we had lots of family time. I am blessed with a great family -

Now I am looking forward to Christmas with my family and friends... I hope you all have a great CHRISTmas...Remember He is the reason we celebrate - Let give Him all the honor and glory!!!!

Well I have enjoyed our time off -- but I am ready to hit the road again and see you all real soon...Have a very Merry CHRISTmas and a blessed New Year - see ya in 2006!!!

Hey Everybody!! I thought I would quit being a stranger and catch you up on where I am and what I've been up to. Dedra said a few people have asked, so here I am ~ I'm going to college to be an RN.......I only have 13 months left. I have 2 new dogs, who act like humans, and they are spoiled rotten. So, there he is....well, thats both of my dogs. Boston on the left, and Ginger on the right. God has been so gracious to me these past few months. I thank Him for every single one of you I met, and know that I miss you all very much. Hopefully, somewhere along the way, God helped me minister to you through the Shadrix bunch. These guys are some of my best friends, and they are doing nothing but the sincere work of Jesus. Support them, but most importantly pray for them, because when you are serving God, then you are unfortunately a target for Satan to try and stop the work of the Lord. Wow guys... I am so sorry! It's been what? Two months, since anyone has written in here? I need to stay on top of things huh? Well, just to let ya know how things have been, here we go...

We sing this weekend around Knoxville, TN. It will be our last weekend on the road before Christmas. We sing again on New Year's Eve in Richton, MS. December is always a time to slow down (or actually speed up with all of the Christmas shopping) and spend time with our families. Each of us have family Christmas parties & gatherings.

Me and Jill have an anniversary coming up next weekend (Dec 11th- our 1st Anniversary), so we will be taking a trip to Chicago next week to get away for that! We are really excited about that.
Linda will be taking a trip with her family (The Hendersons) for Christmas...They are escaping to the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC for a few days in a couple of weeks.
Dedra and the family are going to Pigeon Forge, TN for a few days for a little Christmas get-a-way in a couple of weeks too!

Even though we take time off road from singing, we still find ourselves traveling away from home to rest for a while (lol). I guess the road gets in your blood. Other than that...We will be at home with the families and Christmas trees, and good holiday food!
I pray that all of us take the time this Christmas Season to give JESUS the Praise that HE is so deserving of! This is the time of hear that we celebrate His birth, but also show Him special thanks for our Salvation and for His dying on the Cross for our awful sin-

Hey guys, just wanted to stop by and say hello. Sorry that we've not written in a while. The past couple of months has been crazy. Things have been going great! Just after Fanfair did a trip to North Indiana where we had the chance to spend some time with some great friends! We made our way back home and rested for a few days and then headed for NQC. We had a great week at NQC this year. We got involved with a ministry called World Vision. This is a great ministry guys...these people are feeding hungry kids and families all over the world! They go into a village and spend approx. 15-20 years there and work to get them fed, clothed, and an economy built where they can be self-sufficient. Really pray about sponsoring a child...they live off of $1 per day and that is a coke of coffee to most people in the USA.
This weekend we will be near home!! We will be singing at:
Snow Hill COG in Glenwood, GA on Saturday night (Oct 8th)
and
Fullerville Baptist Church for their homecoming in Villa Rica, GA on Sunday morning. (Oct 9th)

Just a quick update on how everyone is doing:
Me and Jill are doing great. Jill started back to school (she is going to be a nurse) and she is studying alot. We will be moving at the end of this month...so we have a lot of work to do.

Linda is doing great...staying busy and helping in the office and such. She just booked a weekend in Flordia (so she can get home to see her family there).

Dedra, Jesse, Anna, Andrew and Abby are doing great. The kids are growing so fast! The baby seems to grow everytime I see her. Anna and Andrew and in school and doing great. Jesse preached last Sunday back home while we traveled...we really missed him, but I hear that he had a tremendous service! Dedra is keeping all of those kids in line and working in the office...so there is never a dull moment around any of our homes!

Well, that's about it for today... we will try to keep you updated more often!

Signs of the Times

Wow... Katrina has really made an impact on this world. I was listening to talk radio this morning and they were explaining that the 2 main gas lines that run into Atlanta for our gas supply has been broken by the storm. As I was traveling this morning I noticed gas prices reaching the $3.00 per gallon mark. There were people calling in on the radio saying that gas prices were around $3.25 per gallon on the southside of Atlanta. They went on to explain that Altlanta only has a 10 day fuel supply and that prices would go out the roof with hopes that the demand would go down and less people would purchase gas due to the prices. They said that 2 days of this supply has already passed and that by day 10 we could expect to see 2-3 hour lines at the gas stations that still had fuel available. Whether this all comes to pass or not...it all appears to be signs of the times to me. We all need to be in much prayer for those that have been directly effected by the storm. Linda ran into a lady just yesterday that was terribly upset and she told Linda that she lived in New Orleans and she had nothing left. She had just lost everything that she owned in the storm and was here in Altanta finding a place to stay. I feel strongly that we are living in the last days...
My grandfather just passed away on Friday morning, he had been battling cancer for sometime now. During the last 2 weeks of his life he would tell us that he kept seeing angels and he told me not to ever worry about anything because God had each of us in HIS hand. Just after he passed I asked my grandmother how she was doing and was she ok. This is what she said, "Barry, it won't be long until we see him again, the Lord is about to come back and you can take your MawMaw's word on that as well as the Word of God."
I want to share something else with you... It may seem crazy to some of you but I took it as a message. For the past few months each of us involved with this ministry have been seeing the number "11." It's happening to each of us...Me, Jill, Dedra, Jesse and Linda. It seems that everytime we look at a clock it's 11 minutes past the hour. It has been happening all day, everyday. I spoke with my sister-in-law about it and she said, "It's the 11th hour." Linda spoke with a saint of God yesterday and mentioned it to her too and you know what she said? "Honey, it's the 11th hour." Some may call it coincidence, I call it the "Last Days."
Please pray for our minstry that God would open many, many door for us that we can share the Good News of Jesus in these last days. It's a message that must be heard and it seems that we do not have much longer to spread it...we must get busy.

Shadrix Trio Performs at GMT's "2005World Premiere Concert"

Well, I wanted to start out where I left off...The Pajama Party was a BLAST!! Everyone had such a great time. We hosted the party along with "First Love." We all sang, ate pizza, had a "Orange Cola CHUGGIN' Contest", played "Create-a-Quartet" & had a great time. We laughed, cried & praised the Lord all at once- it was great (and we did all of this in our PJ's) For those of you that missed SGM FanFair- all I can say is- "YOU MISSED IT!" Well- when we left FanFair we headed to Rome, GA for Sunday Morning Worship Service. We ministered there with our friends from Gethsemane Baptist Church for their Homecoming Service(ummm-great food). From there we headed to Pigeon Forge, TN and we arrived at the Grand Hotel & Convention Center on Sunday evening. Monday morning we began to prepare to sing on Gospel Music Television's "2005 World Premiere Concert." We sang on the Monday afternoon show along with some incredible artists such as: Karen Peck & New River, Pfeifers, Hemphills, Nelons and Palmetto State Qt. There was a great turn out with barely any seats left!! We had a blessed time! It was great to see friends there that we had not seen in while and friends that we had just saw last week at FanFair. We ended up arriving back at home around 12 am this morning & now it's time to take it easy for a bit.

New Excelling Artist of the Year!

Hey guys... i'm sitting here @ our booth at SGM FanFair. We are having a great time. Last night was AWESOME! We are so excited. We won New Excelling Artist of the Year at the Fan Awards Ceremony!! Just after the ceremony the concerts began. It started off with the McRaes then there was singing from Karen Peck & New River (WOW- so anointed!), the Chuck Wagon Gang, Michael Combs, THE SHADRIX TRIO (woo-hoo), and we ended the night with Brain Free & Assurance (all I can say is: Long as I got King Jesus!!). We had a great night. My wife Jill and Dedra's daughter Anna got up on stage with us and performed a drama & the anointing was so powerful in there. Just after the evening concert there was a midnight Gala Banquet for the Fan Award winners. Good food & fellowship, it was packed in there- no seats left!

Last night was the best crowd so far & it looks like more people are coming on in today. Tonight is our Pajama Party- we have already given tickets away to LOTS of people, Old & young! It is going to be a blast! I am about to go get the Theater Room prepared for the party! Continue to pray for all us as we are out on the road! I will try to drop a line tomorrow (the last day). We sing Sunday, then we will be headed home (hopefully to rest)!

Hey from SGM Fan Fair

Hey Everyone!!!

First - I want to say thanks to everyone who has sent email or a message saying welcome to me... Its great to hear from you all....God is moving and blessing. We have been having great services folks getting saved and blessed. It's awesome to see God working in people's lives. So yall come on out to worship with us and enjoy His presence.

We are here in Chattanooga, TN at Southern Gospel Music Fan Fair. We are having a great time, lots of good talent and friends we haven't seen for a while. There have been showcases, morning worship services, matinees and evening concerts. The Hoppers blew it a way Monday night as well as Ricky Atkinson & Compassion, The Dixie Echoes, Expectation and many more. Tues matinee we heard from Chosen, The Murphys, The Alabama Spirituals and more - then that evening on stage was The Freemans, James Perkins, The Sons Family and more...Today we were blown away by The Sammy Glass Family -those kids are talented- One Reason + more and tonight Lulu Roman, Dixie Melody Boys, Tony Gore & friends ( he had help on I'll Put On A Crown - with live band) The Ruppes rocked it out .... Just to name a few of the groups.
We are on tomorrow night and we also have the awards program we are looking forward to...its not too late if you want to still come you can...we have tickets and lots of great music to come...and fun too...like The Pajama Party hosted by First Love and TST - friday night at midnight...

It's all about to start

Busses are pulling in, booths are being set up and soundchecks are in progress. It's all about to happen. SGM Fanfair is here & it seems that everything will go smoothly. Fans are arriving and everyone is excited about the start of this debut event! Tickets are still available at the box office at the Chattanooga Convention Center- stop by, get a ticket, hear some great gospel music, and fellowship with some great Christian friends. If you are not able to attend- be sure to keep this whole event in your prayers, that God would receive MUCH Glory and that it is successful testimony showing the World that Christian events can still be PACKED OUT! God Bless- I will keep you posted of how this week goes.

Hi Everyone....sorry I have not posted in like a year...lol. I have been so busy. I have a beautiful new baby, who is just the best baby in the world. She never cries unless she is hungry or has that dirty diaper! I am so proud of all my children...they are the best! Abby spent her first weekend out on the road and she was the greatest! She will love the road just like my other two. I had to wake her up just to feed her. Well enough proud mommy talk...FanFair is around the corner. It is an honor to be a part of this new adventure. I pray that we will have a good successful time in the Lord. I look forward to seeing everyone. I hope that I will have a chance to talk to some of you. Many of you already know it, but we have a new singer. The first week of June was Heather Mauldin's last week on the road with us. We love her VERY much and always wish the best for her in whatever area that God leads her into. We experienced 3 WONDERFUL years of ministry with her & she will truly be missed by us & fans as well. Miss Linda Henderson is the new young lady on the scene. She has filled in with our ministry off and on for several months. Previously she sang with her family, "The Hendersons" from Milton, FL. She has recently re-located to Georgia & has officially joined The Shadrix Trio as of July 29th! We are happy to have her on board with our ministry & I know that God will continue to bless and open many new doors along our journey. Please send Linda a welcome by clicking here-->:Welcome Linda! Dedra has taken the last few weeks off, trying to get the little one settled in at home. She will be back this weekend and we will now have a new baby on the bus. Let us live each day like it was our last. My wife and I were talking this weekend & began to discuss how blessed we have been. A lot of times the world sees blessings as having a lot of material things. We have to take in to consideration all things. We have air in our lungs, the Lord woke us up this morning & started us on our way. God has blessed me with a beautiful wife, a wonderful family, and a home. Most of all... God sent His Son to die for such an unworthy person as myself. He has saved my soul and changed the direction of my life from the path of destruction that it was once taking to a path filled with peace, joy and an expected end. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in the things & events of this world and before you know it you find yourself asking the following questions:
Where is my Bible? I've not seen it in weeks
When is the last time I prayed (to Thank God)?
Have I witnessed to anyone this month (or maybe even year)?

I've asked myself those exact questions before... we must keep our eyes on JESUS. His return is too near to take the Great Commission so lightly. Let us all pray that God would put people in our paths this week for us to be a witness to. The Word must be spread...who else to do it, other than me & you?
Please pray for us as we travel...That God would open doors & that we would be obedient enough to walk through those doors!
